How can a petrafied sea shell turn into a pearl Became My Everyday Lifehack

I used to think petrified sea shells were just pretty fossils. But then I learned that they can actually turn into pearls! It all starts when a tiny piece of sand or other irritant gets into the shell. The mollusk that lives in the shell tries to protect itself by secreting layers of nacre, or mother-of-pearl, around the irritant. Over time, this can build up and create a beautiful pearl.

I’ve started collecting petrified sea shells since I learned this. It’s so cool to think that something so ordinary can turn into something so beautiful. And who knows, maybe one day I’ll find a pearl inside one of them!
